I think if you let the characters stay dead that would pave the way for new character to gain ground that they can't with Batman and Wolverine still around.
comic's continuity wouldn't be so wonky and straight s**t. Also you wouldn't have these big gimmicky deaths and comebacks that really mean nothing.

I can understand why normal people are intimidated by Batman (he physically dominates them, he's smarter, etc.) but why are other superheroes afraid of him as well? I'd imagine that many of them could dominate him in more ways than one (superman-physically; martian manhunter-mentally, green lantern-both, etc.)
